They held up beautifully. Seem to be good, sturdy, quality rims overall. This is my only experience with Alex rims but seems like they’re a great product for the money. Also, how well they’re built up initially will have a lot to do with performance.
Where are Alex rims made?
The company mixes its own aluminum alloys and does its own extrusions and wheel building in its factory in Tainan. All of its aftermarket products are made there; the company also has some OE rims made in China.

IS 700C the same as 29?
29″ (ISO size 622) is actually the same rim diameter as 700C, although most 29″ tires will not fit 700C road rims because they’re too wide. 29″ tires are popular with mountain bikers; search for 29″ MTB. 650B (ISO size 584) is used for some randonneur bikes and other specialized bikes.

Nowadays, bicycle tire sizes are all marked according to ETRTO (European Tire and Rim Technical Organization) standard. The ETRTO size specification 37-622 indicates the width of 37 mm and the tire inner diameter of 622 mm. This dimension is clear and allows a precise classification of the rim size.
Is Merida Comp CC rims tubeless Ready?
Merida does not mention any tubeless-ready features on the Comp CC rim, but for XC purposes it’s not too risky converting the wheelset to tubeless with tire sealants and rim tape. Just be sure to keep the tire pressure above 25PSI and use some extra sealant upon conversion to seal all micro holes in the tires.
