What does Marine Conservation Society do?
The Marine Conservation Society is the UK charity dedicated to protecting our seas, shores and wildlife. Our oceans are under threat – too much is being taken out, too much thrown in and not enough protected. MCS works to turn the tide on the neglect of our oceans.
What problems does the ocean face?
Global warming is causing sea levels to rise, threatening coastal population centers. Many pesticides and nutrients used in agriculture end up in the coastal waters, resulting in oxygen depletion that kills marine plants and shellfish. Factories and industrial plants discharge sewage and other runoff into the oceans.
What is marine biodiversity conservation?

What kills marine life the most?
Globally, 100,000 marine mammals die every year as a result of plastic pollution. This includes whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals and sea lions. There are two principle ways that encountering marine debris can be fatal for these creatures: ingestion (eating) or entanglement in plastic-based fishing gear.
Is marine life in danger?
There are not just one or two marine animals in danger of extinction. Instead, a huge percentage of marine life is dying off at alarming and unsustainable rates. Many sea creatures die a painful death after getting caught in plastic bags, containers and fishing nets, as well as ingesting plastic, metal and even glass.
