How does Centrelink know when you leave the country?
You’ll get a receipt confirming your travel details have been received. We’ll tell you if your travel affects your payments or concession cards and if we need any extra information. You can also do this by calling us on your regular payment line or visiting a service centre.

How much Austudy will I get?
The amount of Austudy you get depends on how much you earn. We use an income test and an assets test to work out how much you can get. Your maximum payment rate each fortnight includes Austudy and the Coronavirus Supplement. You’ll get the supplement at a rate of $150 per fortnight until 31 March 2021.
When does the overseas absence payment end for new entrants?
Note: This payment is closed to new entrants and will cease on 1 January 2022. A recipient whose overseas absence is for the purpose of undertaking overseas study as a part of a full-time Australian course may be paid for the duration of the overseas study as long as the study can be credited towards their Australian course.
