Virgin Money Giving doesn’t make a profit from what they do, but they do need to charge a small 2% platform fee and a 2.5% payment processing fee to keep developing their service for us. When a donor opts to cover your fees, it means you receive 100% of the donation.

How much does just giving take?
JustGiving fees UK charities also incur transaction fees of 1.9% + £0.20 fees. JustGiving also keeps 5% of the Gift Aid although charities can opt out of this. They also pay a monthly subscription fee of £15-£39 plus VAT for their service.
Does JustGiving go straight to the charity?
If your charity is based in the UK we automatically transfer donations to the chosen charity on a weekly basis (or, if the total donated to that particular charity on JustGiving is £50 or less, we wait until the end of the month). There’s nothing you need to do.
Does JustGiving total include Gift Aid?
If your donation isn’t eligible for Gift Aid we’ll still send it to your chosen charity, after deducting our 5% transaction fee. But since over 85% of donations through JustGiving are eligible for Gift Aid, the charities we work with still raise more money with us.
Why is Virgin Money closing down?
Virgin Money has announced plans to close 31 stores as it adapts to changing customer demand. Virgin Money regularly reviews the ways customers use its stores, as well as its online, mobile and telephone channels, so that it can adapt its services to meet changing customer demand.
Is there an alternative to just giving?
Raisely is a really interesting alternative option to JustGiving. The main difference is the ability to heavily brand your pages and the high-quality designs. Fees are also very attractive as the system plugs in directly to your own Stripe account.
Is it safe to donate on line?
When giving directly online, be careful how you choose to pay. If you are being prompted to donate by a gift card or money wire, you may have found yourself on an unsafe giving site. Double check the website you are on, research the charity, and remember that it’s safest to donate by credit card or check.
Can I trust JustGiving?
The funds in each charity’s account are safe and protected. At JustGiving we maintain trust bank accounts for all projects and causes, which means that all donations to a charity or project are paid into a trust account, held on behalf of the charity, before being passed on. All donations belong to you, not us.
Is JustGiving free?
JustGiving allows anyone to raise money for any good cause. It’s free to sign up and create a Crowdfunding Page on JustGiving and at the end of your campaign, we’ll send everything you raise to you directly, minus card-processing fees.
Where does the money go on JustGiving?
Sending it to Charity Once a week the money that you raise on your page is sent to the cause you have chosen to support, minus our small charges and the transaction costs that all payment providers charge.
