- To make this sugar scrub, use a 2:1 ratio of Sugar to Coconut Oil (I used 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 cup coconut oil)
- In a bowl mix the two together completely.
- Put into a container with a lid.
- Rub your hands and/or feet with the scrub, rinse and dry. They will feel SO soft!
Is coconut oil good for sugar scrub?
Liquid or solid coconut oil works great. To make this scrub, I started with liquid because it’s easier to mix in. Then, I refrigerated the finished scrub for about 30 minutes to solidify so that the sugar doesn’t sink to the bottom. Just make sure they’re pure essential oils and not diluted in a carrier oil.
Can you sugar scrub with coconut sugar?
Pure cane sugar or unrefined white sugar is slightly more abrasive than brown sugar, but usually works well for all types of skin. What is this? Coconut, Turbinado and raw sugar have the largest sugar granules and do the best job exfoliating.
Does coconut oil clog your pores?

When making sugar scrub do you melt the coconut oil?
Directions:
- Place 1/2 cup Coconut Oil in microwave safe dish, and microwave for 45 seconds, or until completely melted.
- Transfer melted Coconut Oil to small mixing bowl, and stir in 1 cup of White Sugar.
- Add 10 drops of Vanilla Essential Oil {or more for a stronger scent}, and mix again until well combined.
How do you exfoliate with coconut oil?
Here’s how I use coconut oil as an exfoliator: I take a dime-sized amount of coconut oil and rub it into my palms and then over my face. I then wet a washcloth and scrub my face in a circular motion starting at my forehead and working clockwise around my face. I’m left with baby soft, fully moisturized skin.
Why is my sugar scrub hard?
I’m sure you are noticing your Sugar Scrubs are hardened right now. Don’t worry, it’s totally normal! During the winter months our showers and tubs get cold, therefore causing our Sugar Scrubs to solidify a bit. Due to the natural ingredients in our scrubs, the coconut oil solidifies at 75 degrees and below.
Why is my sugar scrub separating?
While homemade sugar scrubs may separate, it has not been a problem for me in my experience. If your sugar scrub separate, all you do is mix it back together. Using a clean finger, spoon or spatula, give the sugar scrub a quick stir and enjoy! Some suggest using an emulsifying wax in sugar scrubs to prevent separation.
