How do I become a certified motorcycle instructor?
To be eligible for the instructor training, you must:
- Have a minimum of 12,000 miles of riding experience (24,000 miles preferred).
- Have a clean driving record.

- Own a street-legal motorcycle and operate it on a regular basis.

How long is MSF certificate good for?

receive a DL-389 certificate in the mail about a week after your class. You must take the certificate with you to the D.M.V. to earn your license. This certificate is only good for one year from the date you pass the course. After one year, the certificate is expired and will no longer be accepted by the DMV.

How long is the MSF course?
The MSF course is 14-15 hours total with 4 hours of in class instruction and around 10 hours of on-the-bike training. The number of days it takes depends on the area. Some places do it in one weekend while some, like mine, take place over the course of two weeks.
