Manevac granules contain two active ingredients, ispaghula and senna. Both of these are laxatives. Ispaghula is a type of fibre and is called a bulk-forming laxative.
Is Fybogel safe to take long term?
Is it safe to take Fybogel for a long time? Ideally, you should only use Fybogel occasionally and for a few days at a time. Using laxatives like Fybogel for longer can lead to prolonged diarrhoea. It can also cause an electrolyte imbalance.
Can you take too much CosmoCol?
Taking an extra dose of macrogol by accident is unlikely to harm you. You may get diarrhoea and stomach pain but this should ease within a day or two. If it does not, stop taking macrogol and wait for the diarrhoea and stomach pain to pass. If you’re worried, talk to a doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Is Manevac discontinued?
Manevac® granules 250g and 400g pack sizes are out of stock until 30 September 2020 and February 2021 respectively. Individual components of Manevac® are available (ispaghula husk 3.5-gram sachets and senna tablets 7.5mg).

The most commonly reported side effects with Fybogel are mild. Sometimes people have stomach ache or rumbles, or feel bloated or sick. Some people also get increased flatulence (wind). These symptoms usually settle within a few days as your body gets used to the increased fibre intake.
Is taking laxatives everyday bad for you?

Teva states the shortage was due to an active pharmaceutical ingredient shortage. Zydus has venlafaxine extended-release capsules available. Zydus has discontinued the 30 count presentations.
