Why is Picato gel discontinued?
The marketing license for ingenol mebutate gel (Picato) has been suspended by the MHRA due to studies showing an increased risk of skin malignancies from the drug. How often can you use Picato?
For use on the face or scalp, apply to the affected area(s) once a day for three days in a row. For use on your body, arms, hands, or legs, apply to the affected area(s) once a day for 2 days in a row.
How do I apply Picato gel?
Apply Picato® gel, 0.015% only to treatment areas on the face or scalp.
- Squeeze the gel from the single use tube onto the fingertip and then spread it evenly over the treatment area.
- Allow treatment area to dry for 15 minutes.
- Wash your fingertip with soap and water immediately after application.
