A sizzling start is a beginning to a piece of writing that immediately grabs the reader’s attention and makes them want to read more.

Remember, the goal of the first paragraph is to make the reader want to read the SECOND… then the third, fourth, fifth, etc. Keeping this in mind helps the writer focus on making a start ‘Sizzle’! How do you write a recount in first person?
Write your recount in the first person because it happened to you. I used detailed maps to plan my flight. Use the past tense because it has already happened. I had trained for years!
