How do you use a caster socket?
To install the socket for a stem-mount caster, drill a hole the size of the socket’s outside diameter straight into the bottom of the leg. Drill about 1⁄ 4 ” deeper than the length of the caster stem. Drive the socket into the drilled hole, then snap the caster into it.
What is a friction ring caster?
Friction-ring stem casters each have a stem that presses into an appropriately sized hole or socket in tubes, pipes, wood, or compatible brackets on furniture or equipment. A spring ring at the end of the stem expands to hold the caster in place once it’s installed in the hole or socket.
How do stem casters work?
Threaded stem casters are affixed into a threaded insert, or by attaching a nut onto the backside of the threaded rod. If you have access to apply the nut, or have a threaded insert, then these casters are ideal since they will be able to lock in place by using a lock washer or lock nut when mounting the caster.
