The CMC MPD combines 3 rescue functions into one device. It can be used as a variable-friction, descent control device for rescue systems and rappels. This model is designed to be used with 1/2″ (12.5 – 13mm) rope and meets the BCCTR Rescue Belay Competency Criteria.

How do multiple pulleys work?
The powerful mechanical advantage of a pulley is in using many pulleys at once. Combining multiple pulleys decreases the amount of force necessary to move an object by increasing the amount of rope used to raise the object. The amount of rope can be found by rope = original amount of rope x the number of pulleys.
