How do you repair wall paneling?
STEPS | Wood Paneling Wall Repair
- Gather materials and tools.
- Place brace and secure to wall.
- Cut patch material and secure to brace.
- Add filler material.
- Allow filler material to dry, then sand wall repair flat.
- Clean sanded repair and apply finish.
Can you put up paneling without drywall?
The issue of placing paneling only over studs of less than 1/4″ does require a drywall. This is due to fire codes. In the event of a fire, paneling will go burn like crazy and the lack of a drywall backer and/or fireblocking is a major issue.
How do you cut paneling without chipping?
Use a fine-tooth blade for your cuts. Although a 20 tooth blade will cut wood paneling faster, it will not make a fine and clean cut like a 60 tooth blade will do. Before cutting the wood paneling with a saw, you can score along the line of the place you wish to cut with a knife or razor.
