If you are making a mold and need to use clay for an original model or creating mold walls, your best bet is to use non-sulfur based clay.
What can I use for making molds?
Materials
- Vaseline or cooking oil spray.
- Plaster of Paris (about $8/3 kg from hardware stores)
- Clay or plasticine.
- Small cardboard box.
- An uncomplicated small object such as a seashell. Plaster isn’t flexible so choose something that is easily going to pop out of that mould when it sets.

- Mix your soap and water together.
- Cut the end off the silicone and without using the nozzle squeeze it all out using the caulking gun.
- Work the silicone until it is not sticky.
- Keeping it wet transfer into a container.
