Parliament’s 2019–21 session came to a close with a ‘prorogation’ announcement on Thursday 29 April 2021. State Opening of Parliament, the start of the new session, was on Tuesday 11 May. The timings for 11 May were the same as in previous years: the main elements of the ceremony took place between 11am and 12.30pm.
Can you visit Parliament on Sunday?
All admissions are on a timed ticket basis between 9.15 am and 4.30 pm. English language tours run at 15 minutes intervals throughout the day. Tours in Spanish, Italian, French, German and Russian are also available at various times. There are no tours on Sundays or Bank Holidays.
Is Parliament open to public?
Parliament House is open 7.00 am to 6.00 pm Mondays to Fridays and from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
Can I go into Parliament?

Can you enter Westminster Abbey?
Westminster Abbey is usually open to visitors from Monday to Saturday throughout the year. On Sundays and religious holidays such as Easter and Christmas, the Abbey is open for worship only. However, all are welcome and it is free to attend services.
Can you walk around Parliament House?
At the Parliament House, you are allowed to tour the building in most areas. Optionally, you could take a guided tour if you need someone to tell you more about the various locations, art and the architecture in the Parliament House.
Can you visit New Parliament House?
No. The Parliament building is temporarily closed to the public until further notice. The proceedings of either House can be viewed live on our webcasts. Public tours have been suspended until further notice.
Can you walk on top of Parliament House?
There is a security check like in airports at the entrance so be careful with items you have in your bag. You are free to walk inside, there are a lot of galleries and information, but we were interested in getting up to the roof and walk in the garden.
When is the best time to visit the Houses of Parliament?
