Christmas Ale will begin releasing to all of our merry markets in bottles, cans, and draft beginning Monday, October 26.
Did Great Lakes Christmas Ale change?
Since the beer debuted 29 years ago, the recipe hasn’t changed. The Ohio City brewery begins brewing Christmas Ale in the summer, and when it does, Ohio’s oldest purveyor of craft beer continues to spice the beloved holiday ale with real ginger, honey and cinnamon.
What kind of beer is Great Lakes Christmas Ale?
Great Lakes Christmas Ale(ABV 7.5%) is a full-bodied, spirited ale as festive as the season. Copper-colored and flavorful, it’s brewed with honey and spiced with fresh ginger and cinnamon Six, twelve, or twenty-four 12 oz bottles.

22 – Years the ale has been packaged and released, since 1992. It was available only in the brewpub before then. 126 – Christmas Ale’s shelf life in days, according to the brewer.

Shipping beer with USPS is strictly prohibited, and if you get caught shipping beer you can be charged with a felony.

The beer has a 90-day shelf life.
How long can you keep Christmas Ale?
Properly stored, unopened beer will generally stay at best quality for about 4 to 6 months when stored at room temperature, although it will usually remain safe to use after that.

Christmas IPA is a malt-forward IPA using 6 different hops throughout the process. Moderate citrus and pine notes balanced with caramel malt on the palate dry-hopped with Meridian, Chinook, and Cashmere.
