What is a globe valve good for?
Unlike the gate valve, globe valve can be used for regulating flow or pressures as well as complete shutoff of flow. It may also be used sometime as a pressure relief valve or as a check valve. Compared with a gate valve or ball valve, the globe valve has considerably higher pressure loss in the fully open position.
Are globe valves good for throttling?
Globe valves are one of the most popular kinds of valves. The globe valve is primarily used as a throttling valve. The space between the seat and the ring allows the globe valve to function as a great throttling valve. There is less damage to the seat and disk or plug because of its design.
Are globe valves directional?
The globe valve is used for throttling flow control. This valve is considered uni-directional and must be installed with the pressure side or inlet under the seat.
How long does a globe valve last?

Why we are using globe?

What are the disadvantages of butterfly valves?

- It has a poor sealing function.
- Throttling by employing butterfly valves is restricted to low-pressure drop systems.
Can a globe valve be installed vertically?
Globe valves must be installed and operated in the vertical position only. Manual globe valves must always be either fully open, or fully closed once installed and are not designed or intended for throttling applications.
Where should pressure enter a globe valve?
The globe valve must be installed in the proper relation to the media flow as indicated by the flow direction arrow marked on the valve body. This valve is considered uni-directional and must be installed with the pressure side or inlet under the seat.
How do you close a globe valve?
To close it, the stem is screwed down until the disk blocks the seat’s opening.
- The plug or disk of a globe valve stops fluid flow when it is pushed into the seat.
- Y-pattern and angle pattern globe valves are useful alternatives to the standard z-pattern globe valve.
