BLUESFEST IS CANCELLED FOR TWO YEARS IN A ROW Bluesfest was due to open the gates on Thursday April 1st and close on Monday April 5th 2021. Bluesfest was scheduled to return after being cancelled in 2020 by a public health order and had worked diligently to present the event in 2021.

Who started Bluesfest?
The festival was founded by Dan Doeppel and Kevin Oxford in 1990 and is run by Peter Noble who joined Oxford for the 1994 event. It has been held at several locations in and around Byron Bay and is currently held at Tyagarah, 11 km (6.8 mi) north of Byron Bay town.
Who started Blues Fest?
Created by Commissioner of Cultural Affairs Lois Weisberg, the festival began in 1984, a year after the death of McKinley Morganfield, better known as Muddy Waters, who is generally considered “the father of Chicago blues”.
